Railroad Energy Center

The Railroad Energy Center is a proposed 40 megawatt / 160 megawatt-hour energy storage project that will interconnect to an existing NOVEC substation. At peak output, this project will discharge the electricity necessary to power nearly 30,000 homes.

The project will be sited adjacent to a railroad line, data center, and other industrial properties along Bethlehem Road (where substantial data center development has already occurred).

PROJECT A GLANCE:

  • Electrical grid impact: Enhance the reliability and resiliency of the local electrical grid
  • Economic Impact: Contribute to the county’s economic development – will pay significant taxes to Prince William County.
  • Environmental impact: The project has no air pollutions emissions and limited noise pollution
  • Safety: The project will adhere to all relevant codes and standards for battery energy storage systems consistent with industry standards. We will coordinate closely with the relevant Fire Departments.
